Would you like a break in the superb landscape of the Upper Dove Valley and at the same time learn new skills or develop existing ones?
 If this appeals to you, come on one of our workshops and enjoy the company of like - minded people and learn from enthusiastic and professional tutors.
We run a whole range of workshops here for children and adults that explore and celebrate the environment, some in partnership with Staffordshire Wildlife Trust. You can also hire the Centre for your own activities or as holiday accommodation. 

We have become known for our warm welcome and we provide our visitors with refreshments that are organic/Fair-trade and are sourced locally where possible.


Willow Sculpture/ Garden Obelisks.  Thursday April 24th

Anthony Hammond, well-known local artist, will show you how to create your own willow sculptures/ garden obelisks. You can let your imagination run in this exciting workshop! Take away your own piece of art and plenty of inspiration to create more stunning pieces. Hedgerow BasketsFriday April 25th Weave yourself a beautiful basket with local willow and wonderful materials from our hedgerows with Rachel Wheatcroft from Staffordshire Wildlife Trust to inspire and guide you.

Bushcraft & Wild foods. Sunday April 27th
Spend a day with Martin Evans from Staffordshire Wildlife Trust trying out various bush craft techniques such as shelter building and making fires using bow and drill.  Sample some of the wild spring greens available on the farm at this time of the year.

Water Colour Painting in the Dove Valley. Sat May 17th & Sun May 18th
Paint the fresh new colours of spring with Tony Beresford, a local professional painter, well known for his landscapes and the tutor for our painting courses. Details from Dove Valley Centre.


Biodiversity Day.  Saturday June 7th (Free and open to all)
(The Big Bird, Bug, Beast and Botany Hunt) Bring the family and discover the wild plants and creatures on the farm: in the hay meadows, pastures, woodland, ponds and river with the help of naturalists from Staffordshire Wildlife Trust.

Water Colour Painting in the Dove Valley. Sat July 12th and Sun July 13th
Delight in the valley at the height of summer with the hills, meadows and farm buildings as well as the cows and sheep as inspiration for your paintings.

Out and about with a sketch book .  Wednesday 27th August
Join us at the delightful hamlet of Hollinsclough, our base for the day, for a relaxed amble, sketching the spectacular upper Dove.

Experience the wonderful autumn colours of the valley and create a rich palette of watercolours with which to paint this special landscape.

Apple Day.  Sunday October 26th ( Free and open to all)

Bring apple recipes to share, taste and try appley things, including baked apples over a fire. Exciting activities for children.  Bring your unknown apple varieties for our expert to identify and find out more about growing local varieties.

How much does it cost?

We welcome both individuals and groups to our special interest breaks:

You can book to be resident - the course fee includes accommodation and all meals
or
non-resident, in which case the fee includes refreshments and lunch during the day.

Accommodation is in single or twin-bedded rooms - see the brochure for details.

Painting Courses

Two-day residential course - £125 in twin room-
£135 for single occupancy.
Non-resident - £ 40 per day

Other Courses

Willow sculpture, £45 including materials
Hedgerow basket course - £40 including materials
Bushcraft & Wild foods £ 30 for 1 adult and up to 2 children.
